Wall Street expects IBM to earn $ 1.79 per share on revenue of $ 20.63 billion. This is a decrease compared to the same period last year, when earnings per share of $ 4.71 and revenue of $ 21.78 billion.When Will IBM's True Return Begin?
The company's cloud systems goals had promised shareholders profit. But IBM stocks were unable to return to pre-COVID levels even as the rest of the market climbed to new highs. But cloud leaders like Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft (MSFT) and Google (GOOG, GOOGL) seem too far ahead of IBM to catch up. Arvind Krishna, the company's new CEO, is tasked with transforming IBM into a leading cloud and AI company in its position, while distancing the company from its former business.
The market will want to hear the progress on these fronts on Thursday.
Intel
Wall Street expects Intel to earn $ 1.10 per share, with revenue of $ 17.48 billion. This is seen as a decrease compared to the same period last year, when earnings per share of $ 1.52 and revenue of $ 20.21 billion. Watch Out: Intel shares rose more than 10 percent on Wednesday after CEO Bob Swan confirmed that he will step down on February 15th. Swan will be replaced by VMWare's (VMW) current CEO Pat Gelsinger. Intel lost ground and market to its key competitors in the chip development business, AMD (AMD) and Nvidia (NVDA).
Can Gelsinger turn things around quickly?
Analysts at Needham raised Intel shares from Hold to Buy (Buy) and raised the price target to $ 70. This means a return of over 20 percent.
