EMIRATES AIRLINES OFFER FREE CORONA VIRUS INSURANCE

Airline companies all over the world are working to convince passengers to fly again. One of the most important steps came from Emirates Airlines. According to the news in the BBC, Emirates Airlines became the first airline to offer passengers free corona virus insurance. Accordingly, passengers will be insured for 31 days from the moment they flies with Emirates. Insurance, treatment, quarantine accommodation and funeral expenses will be covered by the company. Emirates Group President Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “We know that people want to fly as the world borders reopen. However, they are worried about an unforeseen situation during the travels and they seek security. ” The company will insure all passengers by the end of October, regardless of class or destination. There will be no need to register for this service, which will be offered completely free of charge. Emirates' insurance will cover medical treatment costs of up to 150,000 euros per passenger. If the passenger is quarantined in a hotel, 100 euro per day will be paid. If the passenger dies due to the corona virus, up to 1500 euro of the funeral expenses will be covered by the insurance. The fact that countries closed their borders within the scope of quarantine measures and people were afraid of contact with the virus in flights caused the demand for air transportation to hit the bottom this year. The postponement of many large organizations, particularly the Tokyo Olympics and the European Football Championship, also hit the air transport industry. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced last month that the sector is expected to experience record loss of revenue. Compared to 2019, revenues are expected to decrease by half this year. The drop in demand has caused companies around the world to divide the roads with tens of thousands of staff. Three weeks ago, Emirates decided to drop out 9,000 of its 60,000 workers. This was a first in the history of the company.
