Employees are worried about their jobs

The uncertainty, intensifying with the pandemic, has also led to an increase in the anxiety of employees about their jobs. The change in existing jobs, as technological developments become more and more integrated into the business world, is perceived as another factor that increases uncertainty for employees. According to the results of PWC's "Hopes and Concerns for the Future of Work 2021", participants in Turkey feel very worried about the future of their jobs, while participants in the global survey results feel more excited and self-confident. In addition, women seem to feel more anxious than men, both for themselves and for future generations. Respondents in Turkey think that the recruitment model will change in the near future, that they will provide individual services to corporations in line with their skills and personal brands, and that very few people will have stable, long-term jobs.

Women are more anxious

42 percent of respondents feel worried about the future of their work. While 49 percent of women are concerned about the impact of the future of the business world on them, this rate is 36 percent for men. 64 percent of the participants think that the traditional recruitment model will no longer be valid and that they will have personal "brands" through which they will sell their skills to companies/institutions in need in the short term. This rate is 48 percent in global research results. 51 percent of employees think very few people will have stable, long-term jobs in the future. This rate was observed as 56 percent in global research results. 30 percent of respondents think that public authorities should take action to protect their professions from automation. This rate doubles in global research results.

Technology is also an opportunity

73% of employees think technology offers more opportunities than risks. 48 percent of employees are worried that many people will lose their jobs due to automation. 87% of respondents want a hybrid working model. While 65 percent of the participants emphasize that they want a working environment where they can make a difference or take initiative, only 14 percent emphasize that they take advantage of opportunities to increase their income. 38 percent of respondents aged 18-35 say that being able to control their own business and decide for themselves when and what to do will be an important factor in the future.
