Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) President
Mustafa Yılmaz stated to a news channel correspondent that
retail sales companies have to calculate according to the number of days between the first reading date and the last reading date, and said, "Retail companies have to calculate how many days there are in December, using the old prices by proportioning the consumption, and the new tariff by proportioning the consumption according to how many days there are in January. Every consumer pays the electricity bill according to the tariff of the month. The company that applies the new tariff for the earlier month will have to pay a heavy price."
Emphasizing that there may be situations where the unit prices based on consumption seen on the invoice during the transition to the tariff are not considered in line with the tariffs published by EMRA,
Yılmaz emphasized that this situation will certainly not affect the final calculation, and continued as follows:
"Complaints come to our institution that the tariffs that are effective as of January 1 are reflected on their December invoices. The method of calculating the invoices of the companies is clear. No company can go beyond this method. We look forward to their immediate application."
Noting that the date the invoice is drawn up does not affect the amount and that the date of consumption is decisive,
Yılmaz said, "Citizens, could rest with ease. An increase or decrease in the consumption period does not constitute an injustice. No assigned supplier company can create an additional income for itself by calculating an invoice different from the determined tariffs. However, we do not tolerate incorrect billing, and we will follow the process meticulously."
