44 Countries Come Together for Bitcoin. Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, the first country to accept Bitcoin as its official currency, shared on his personal Twitter account and announced that 44 countries will gather in El Salvador to discuss Bitcoin.
“32 central banks and 12 financial authorities (44 countries) will meet in El Salvador to discuss finance, digital economy, unbanked banking, the launch of Bitcoin and its benefits in our country,” Bukele said in his post.
It was discovered that these central banks and their officials came from developing countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Paraguay, Angola, Guinea, and Madagascar.
It is known that there are more than 2,000 Bitcoins in the balance sheet of El Salvador, which legally accepted Bitcoin in September of 2021.
