Dow Futures Decline After a Positive Week

US stock futures traded slightly lower in evening trading on Sunday, after rising for the 4th consecutive week on earnings results from major retailers.

Dow Futures Decline After a Positive Week. As of 19:00 ET (11:00 GMT), Dow Jones Futures, S&P 500 Futures and Nasdaq 100 Futures were each down 0.2%. In the week ahead, market participants will look to the minutes of the July FOMC meeting for any indication that interest rate hikes will be eased. Retail sales figures due on Wednesday are expected to remain weak as higher consumer prices continue to weigh on purchasing power. Meanwhile, building permits, housing starts and existing home sales will also be released in Wednesday's session, while industrial production as well as the New York Empire State and Philadephia Fed Manufacturing indices will be closely watched. On the earnings front, major retailers such as Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) and Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) will report their results. In Friday's session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 424.4 points, or 1.3%, to 33,761.1, the S&P 500 added 72.9 points, or 1.7%, to 4,280.1 and the NASDAQ Composite gained 267.3 points, or 2.1%, to 13,047.2. On a weekly basis, the Dow ended the week up 2.9%, the S&P 500 up 3.25% and the Nasdaq Composite up 3.08%. In bond markets, US 10-Year yields were at 2.842%.
