Gazprom to Reduce Gas Shipments in Nord Stream

Russian energy and natural gas giant Gazprom has announced that another turbine engine used for the Nord Stream pipeline has been shut down due to technical malfunctions and that the amount of natural gas shipped through the line will decrease.

In the announcement made by the Russian company Gazprom, it was noted that the Siemens turbine engine at the Portovaya compressor station used for Nord Stream was shut down due to technical reasons. In the announcement, it was stated that as of July 27, a maximum of 33 million cubic meters of natural gas can be shipped daily through the Portovaya compressor station. Gazprom had cut gas deliveries through Nord Stream to 60 percent on June 15, citing the failure of a Siemens turbine to be returned to Russia after maintenance in Canada. Nord Stream is known as one of the most important lines carrying Russian gas to Europe via Germany. The Russian company was also exporting 40 percent of its gas to Europe.
