NFT Move from FINA; Successful Swimmers Awarded with NFTs

In the 19th championship hosted by the International Olympic Committee (FINA), FINA attracted attention by giving NFT awards to young athletes in addition to cash prizes.

21-year-old Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon and 22-year-old Hungarian swimmer Kristof Milak became the first names in the world to have an NFT in the swimming category, thanks to the NFT awards they received. The NFT works in question were not created by just one NFT artist, but with the contributions of an artist named Krizbo from Budapest, who was designated by FINA for the Championships. There is also a small-scale collection of the artist on Opensea. Ceccon and Milak's NFTs are created by combining the colors of the Hungarian flag (red, white and green). Every swimmer's moment of victory in the pool is enriched by adding Hungarian colors as well as two iconic buildings of the city. These two iconic buildings are seen as the Hungarian Parliament building and the Fisherman's Bastion building, respectively. Where NFTs differ is that the winning athletes each take part in their own NFT. Also, in his own edition, Ceccon points to the crowd in the pool, while Milak sits by the pool and looks at the crowd. FINA President Husain Al-Musallam said the following about the awards: “Setting a world record is a very special moment in every athlete's career. During the 19th FINA World Championships, we are excited to use the latest digital technology to create a portable and enduring way to capture the success of athletes in the pool in full compliance with the principles of the FINA Reform Committee.
