Speaking at the press conference held at the Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, President Tayyip Erdoğan said, "There is a need for a way that will not rob Turkey with high interest rates. Price increases and exchange rate fluctuations are the half of the glass. (Inflation) will be left behind as of February-March."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who attended the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Champions of Export Award Ceremony, underlined the following topics:
“As of May 2022, we managed to increase our exports to 243 billion dollars on a 12-month basis. Hopefully, we will increase this rate every month.
With its exports to 214 different countries, it has become a country that waves its flag everywhere. This table indicates that we are getting closer to the goal of exporting high value-added products, step by step. This picture is proof that we are taking firm steps towards growing our country with investment and employment. We will be with everyone who wants to increase their production.
Our only goal is to increase the production and employment of our country. Those who claim otherwise have different intentions. We stand by everyone who takes a step on the path of production and export. As long as you put forward your plan and project sincerely, we will solve all other problems together.
We see each of our 100,000 exporters operating all over the world as our voluntary diplomatic ambassadors. Thanks to your determination and skill, we are able to take a stronger stance in the face of global challenges. Together, we will make our country one of the 10 largest economies in the world. Then we will have passed to a higher stage in the construction of a great and powerful Turkey.
When we first announced our 2023 goals, someone sneered at us. Despite all the events we have been through, the threats we have faced, and all the traps set before us, we have achieved half of our goals.
We achieved half of our export target of 500 billion dollars. We will exceed the 250 billion dollars export target we set for the end of the year. In addition to the belief in our country and nation, we have very solid tools and opportunities.
We are a country that has increased the export of our country 6 times and the number of exporters 4 times in the last 20 years. The global health crisis, which has been effective for about 2.5 years, has made it necessary to reshape the production and supply centers in the world. The first country to come to the fore in this regard is Turkey.
There is a need for a way that will not rob Turkey with high interest rates. We will leave (inflation) behind as of February-March. In July, all segments will be relieved with inflation differences. Price increases and currency fluctuations are the half-empty glass.”
