Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: ''We will hold a meeting about Mir on Friday''
In an interview with members of the media at the Turkevi in New York at the end of his visit to the United States, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that they will hold a meeting on Friday regarding the Russian payment system Mir. President Erdoğan stated that they will take a final decision on the issue at this meeting and that they have launched a campaign for a 25 percent down payment discount in social housing.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan used the following statements in his economic evaluation: ''The most important point about these cards is the event called Mir card. This was a step between Russia and us. We are evaluating the steps we will take on this issue with our relevant friends. We will hopefully take our steps accordingly. Of course, we have alternatives, that is separate. But the whole problem is the different versions of these sanctions. Of course, these really do not befit friendship, they do not befit the organization of our economic relations. What are we going to do now? What are the alternatives? My ministerial colleagues are holding talks on these alternatives. After these negotiations, I will gather all my relevant friends in Istanbul on Friday, I hope. I will hold a meeting with them and we will make our final decision here. We are very pleased to have launched the largest and most comprehensive housing campaign in the history of the Republic. On the first day, we received 1 million requests for applications, which we stated would last until the end of October. It is now approaching 5 million. Especially our young people have seriously embraced the project. The kindness shown to the campaign is actually a sign of our citizens' trust in the state. And because they trust the state, they show such interest in it. Of course, we are talking about an investment value exceeding 422 billion liras, more than 200 thousand new jobs, and an economic mobility involving 250 sub-sectors. Such a huge investment prepares the ground for a much larger economic mobility with its multiplier effect. We expect rent and housing prices, which have been unstable for some time, to fall to reasonable levels; I have no doubt that this will happen. Despite all this, we find it difficult to understand the opposition's efforts to criticize the project. In fact, there is a clear difference between us and the opposition; we are troubled, they are not. They are elsewhere, their job is to deceive and deceive. We have only one problem and that is the nation. These are the ills. We are running for the peace and welfare of each and every one of our people, regardless of any difference. We have always stated that we are not only troubled, but also responsible for providing these opportunities to our nation, and we still do. Those who try to muddy the waters even in such a good step as a social housing project and insult the nation have no concern or responsibility. One way or another, we will show that we have achieved this. Delivering these houses to people living in all 81 provinces will be the best answer to them. We will not wait for the end of the year or anything like that. I also told Mr. Murat that we don't have time to wait for the end of the year. Let's start laying the foundations right away, starting from Anatolia, from small to large. From there, we will expand to Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Kayseri and so on. Of course, these people think that they will get results by gathering everyone from foreign ambassadors to supporters of terrorist organizations at the table they have set up and leaving only one nation out, but no... I said one more thing; we will take this step now and after the election we will start the second stage of this work. When they heard about the second stage, of course, they were really disturbed. You can work, but you don't have such a problem. We just say to the opposition, 'come and keep watching us.' But they don't know how to be spectators. Our situation is very, very different at this point. Inshallah, we will once again demonstrate our difference by presenting this project of 500 thousand housing units, first 250 thousand and then another 250 thousand, to the service of our nation. Of course, on the other hand, we will raise the land plots. We will prepare 250 thousand housing plots. We are also rapidly taking steps for 50 thousand workplaces. God willing, those who want to own a shop will also be there. On this occasion, I would like to give good news to our citizens who bought houses from TOKİ. We are launching a 25 percent down payment discount campaign for our citizens who bought houses or workplaces from TOKİ and whose repayment continues. Those who cannot pay off the entire debt will be able to receive a 25 percent discount for as much payment as they can, provided that it is not less than 25 percent of the balance. Buyers of houses and workplaces whose repayment installments have started until the end of June 2021 will be able to benefit from this campaign.
