The World Economic Forum (WEF), which has been canceled for two years due to the pandemic, starts on May 22 in Davos, Switzerland. This year, unlike other years, Russia announced for the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union that they will not take part in Davos.

The names that shape the global politics and business world are preparing for the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which has been canceled for two years due to the coronavirus, in Davos, Switzerland, on May 22-26. “Rebuilding societal confidence”, “use and effectiveness of sanctions”, “energy outlook; The forum, where these panels will be held to discuss important issues such as "overcoming the crisis" and "preventing the global food crisis", starts today. The WEF Summit will start with a keynote speech by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy via video conference, with the participation of a group of Ukrainian officials to raise awareness of the plight of the war, which is in its third month globally. This year will be the first summit in Switzerland without a single Russian official or business leader since the collapse of the soviets. Russian sponsors, who played an important role in the event calendar, which was held at the summit at an annual cost of 600 thousand Swiss Francs (615,000 dollars), were no longer strategic partners this year. Among the billionaires who attended Davos in 2020, Russians ranked third in terms of majority. Although the official Russian presence in Davos waned after Putin's invasion of Crimea in 2014, Russian billionaires and business leaders attended the meeting.
