The Ramadan Feast, which began on May 1st, will offer a 5-day vacation to individuals who have not had a vacation in the previous two years due to the coronavirus. During the holiday, a trade volume of 15 billion liras will be generated throughout the country, according to reports. The increased costs of hotels and transportation did not stop depressed citizens from enjoying their vacation. Many hotels in the Aegean and Mediterranean have a 90% occupancy rate, according to reports. Domestic tourists would go on a holiday vacation as a spring getaway rather than a summer vacation, according to tourism employees, who indicated that the reservations made are now for 5 days. Sector representatives claim that reservations for the Feast of Sacrifice, which falls on July 9-12, have already been made, and that it will be even busier than the Ramadan Feast. According to Bülent Süzer, Vice President of the Aegean Touristic Operators and Accommodations Union (ETIK), they had a high demand over the holiday, and the holiday will generate a movement of approximately 13-15 billion TL. Süzer stated that the occupancy rate has already reached 90% and that if the holiday was extended to 9 days, more people would be able to come on vacation, and that reservations are currently being made within 5 days. "Reservations are flooding in like a 5-day getaway," said Bülent Bülbülolu, President of the Southern Aegean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (GETOB). Domestic travelers waited a while, knowing that the season had not yet begun for foreign tourists and that the hotels were not yet fully booked. We anticipate an increase in reservations in the coming week. Our costs have risen significantly, yet we have not fully reflected this in our prices. With price increases, this holiday season could see a transfer of almost 15 billion TL. There were also a variety of discounts available for those who booked ahead of time for the Eid period. We may advise those who are planning a vacation, especially for Eid al-Adha, to book as soon as possible."
