Erdogan: We Continue Our Investments Without Slowing Down
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the following at the opening ceremony of Tohma Bridge, “We continue our investments without slowing down.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a speech at the opening ceremony of the Tohma Bridge in Malatya, which he attended with a video call. President Erdogan emphasized that they continue to invest in every field without slowing down, even during the troubled period due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The highlights from
President Erdogan's speech were as follows:
- This bridge, which connects the two sides of the Malatya plain, is one of the vital points of the region's transportation.
-I think this bridge will make a significant contribution to the tourism and trade of the region.
-Even in this troubled period, our agricultural production, our industrial production, is breaking one record after another. We continue our investments in all areas without slowing down.
We Tended to Bigger Projects
- With the support and encouragement of our nation, we changed the face of Turkey in every field in 18 years. Today, Turkey is a single country that realizes more than half of the global mega-projects.
-We have turned to bigger investments in bigger projects to make our country one of the 10 biggest economies in the world.
- Unfortunately, the development breakthrough in the first years of the Republic failed, and the industrialization moves that were initiated were interrupted one by one. The answer to the development move initiated by Menderes was given by a coup.
- Turkey has paid the price of its delay in the development struggle as neglect, backwardness and poverty for a long time. Today, Turkey is a single country that realizes more than half of the global mega-projects. With the courage we take from the strength of our infrastructure, we constantly raise our targets in every field, increase our new capacities, and especially expand our production areas.
- We have also seen that similar efforts emerge from under every vile, from international speculators to terrorist organizations, who are in insidious calculations against our country. Anyone who does not want Turkey to develop, grow, become stronger and realize regional and global power goals has always attacked our projects.
After Erdogan's speech, the bridge was put into service. The 517.5-meter-long, 21-meter-high and 16-meter-wide bridge, the foundation of which was laid in 2018, was built with a push-and-slide steel construction, the second bridge built with the same system after Osmangazi Bridge. With the bridge that will connect the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions to the Black Sea via Malatya, it is aimed to ensure the integrity of the divided road on the north-south axis on the Malatya-Hekimhan-Sivas line.
