Previously, no official statement was made on the date of the first face-to-face meeting of EU Council President Charles Michel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with Biden. In a statement regarding the talks made by US Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, with EU officials in Brussels today, it was stated that the summit to be held on June 15 was discussed and the issue of how to revive the relations between the parties was discussed. Such a summit between the two sides of the Atlantic will be held for the first time since 2014. The last summit meeting in 2014 was attended by then US President Varack Obama, EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy and EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. It was previously known that US President Joe Biden would come to Brussels for the NATO Summit to be held on June 14th. However, there was no clear information about the date of the EU-US Summit. The declining relations between the EU and the USA under the administration of former US President Donald Trump began with Biden's coming to the administration. In the first days of his presidency, Joe Biden was connected to the EU Leaders Summit held on 25 March by a videocall and addressed the leaders. Biden will travel from Brussels to Geneva and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 16.
