EU Does Not Agree to a Solution on the Fisheries Problem
The
EU does not agree to a solution on the fisheries problem. No agreement has been reached in the Brexit talks.
The trade agreement could not be concluded, as the parties could not solve the problems, shortly before the implementation of Brexit.
While Britain struggled with the coronavirus mutation, it offered a solution to the fishing problem, one of the deadlock issues in the Brexit trade deal. According to Bloomberg's report,
British Prime Minister Johnson, regarding fishing rights, presented a new plan to the European Union.
The plan included a proposal from the EU to cut the value of fish caught in British waters by 30 percent. Previously, Britain had asked the EU to accept a 60 percent cut. The EU was in favor of proposing a 25 percent cut on Friday.
When there was no result from the talks yesterday, the officials warned that the talks would collapse completely if one of the parties did not comply with the determined rules.
On the issue of fisheries, it is said that even if there is an agreement between the two sides on how much European boats will buy, the talks may be deadlocked in the EU's request to apply wider trade tariffs to the UK.
England stated that it would accept penalty tariffs related to fishing, and emphasized that it would not accept tariffs in other areas.
