EU Is Banning Single-Use Plastic Products
The EU is banning single-use plastic products. The European Union (EU) has approved the regulation banning plastic products as of 2021.
The
European Union Council has adopted the regulation that includes banning single-use plastic products, which are the most used to fight waste, from 2021.
The European Council announced the adoption of a regulation banning the use of single-use plastic waste, which mostly end up in the seas and coasts.
As part of the decision, single-use plastic products with suitable alternatives will be banned in the markets as of 2021.
Plastic ear buds, cutlery, plates, straws, drink stirrers, balloon sticks and food containers will not be used in EU countries.
EU member states will aim to collect 90 percent of single-use plastic bottles by 2029.
The regulation in question was previously accepted by the European Parliament (EP).
