European Stock Exchanges at the Lowest Level of the Last 3 Years
With the coronavirus increasing concerns, global markets have collapsed. European exchanges have reached their lowest since June 2016, after US President Donald Trump imposed a travel ban for 30 days.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 4.9% this morning to its lowest level since June 2016. The index thus increased the bear market.
While the UK FTSE 100 Index declined to 5%, DAX fell 5.3% in Germany, CAC 40 Index in France decreased 4.5%, FTSE MIB 2.6% in Italy, IBEX 35 Index in Spain decreased by 5.2%.
Later, the European Central Bank's interest rate decision will be followed. The bank is expected to lower its deposit rates. President Lagarde stated that the bank would use all the tools if necessary, but stressed that governments should also take measures.
