Due to the
corona virus epidemic, the restriction of trade in medical devices and equipment is causing problems in exporting some sectors. Apparel manufacturers complain that they do not meet the needs of chain stores and large companies in the European market. As a solution to this situation, the GTIP number (Customs Tariff Statistics Position) of the fabric mask must be changed.
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of the Aegean Exporters' Union, used the following statements in his statement on the subject:
'' If the brand's store or print product is offered domestically, there is a big problem with the brand and patent. DMO (State Materials Office) cannot market branded products. In this case, our manufacturing companies will have big problems according to international trade rules. In addition, companies can suffer compensation cases at their expense. In view of the differences between the surgical mask and the fabric mask, the GTIP number should therefore be changed. '' Eskinazi said that they would forward the issue to authorities such as the Department of Commerce and the Department of Health, and expressed his belief that the issue could be resolved quickly.
Burak Sertbaş, President of the Association of Aegean Apparel and Apparel Exporters, said there was great demand for the giveaway mask. Despite the high demand for masks with brand names and logos, Sertbaş said that due to the export ban for masks, this request remained unanswered.
Disposable masks cause pollution
Emre Kızılgüneşler, deputy chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, spoke to the Dünya newspaper. Kızılgüneşler expressed his thoughts on the subject in the following words:
'' Disposable masks, which we call nonwovens, are also a problem of pollution. If we look at the new approaches to sustainability, we have to turn to the washable mask, taking into account the situation on the domestic market and our external demand. Because this condition is necessary both for the accessibility of the mask as well as for the prevention of the waste size, which can cause an increasing problem. ''
