Finland Wants to Sell Its Bitcoins

Finland wants to sell its Bitcoins. Finland holds $79 million worth of BTC.

1.981 Bitcoin, which was learned to be obtained from drug raids in Finland, is wanted to be sold by the state authorities. The value of BTCs currently held at Finnish Customs amounts to approximately $79 million. Pekka Pylkkanen, the country's Customs Finance manager, stated that a relevant intermediary institution will make the sale in order for the Bitcoin sale to be safe. It was informed that the Customs Administration plans to sign a two-year agreement with 3 brokerage firms for the sale, and it was announced that the contracts will be made for approximately 250 thousand dollars. It was said that if more Bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies are seized, the amount to be paid to broker companies can increase up to 2 million Euros. The price will be determined by the price volatility of Bitcoin. Of the 1.981 BTC, 1.666 were seized from Finnish drug trafficker Douppikauppa in 2016. Where the seized Bitcoins would be stored caused great controversy in the country at that time, but the state authorities said that it was forbidden to keep BTCs on any digital platform.
