As the Russia-Ukraine war is entering its 25th day, 847 civilians have lost their lives in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, according to the statements of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights. Many soldiers were killed.
Kurt Volker, the former United States Ambassador to NATO, told Fox News, "Putin, who had no way out, did everything militarily to seize Ukraine and failed. The military will try anything to achieve victory, but that seems less and less likely." Volker added that Russia is facing a bleak future militarily and economically.
In the early days of the war, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "The aim of the operation is to protect people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years. We will strive for the purification of Ukraine from Nazism and militarism, as well as bring to justice those who committed a large number of bloody crimes against civilians, including the people of the Russian Federation. It is impossible to close Russia behind an iron curtain. The operation will continue until it reaches the target. Putin will determine the time."
