Frequently flying people should pay fees, says the experts
A small group of people doing most flights should face frequent flying fees. This is claimed by the environmental organization Possible.
According to the mentioned institution, such an elite minority is responsible for most of the damage caused by aviation emissions. The British website
The Guardian informed about it.
Possible has published a report pointing out that a small group of the world's population is responsible for most of all flights, while many people do not fly at all.
In the United States, 12 percent of people have made as many as 66 percent of all flights, in China, 40 percent of flights are for 5 percent of households, and 2 percent of the French population have made as many as half of the flights in the Gallic Rooster country.
In
Britain, in 2018, 10 per cent of people made more than half of all international flights.
According to the study, these most frequent flying people, who represent only 1 percent of the world's population, accounted for half of the carbon emissions from aviation in 2018. These have a negative impact on climate change. Almost 90 percent of the world's population did not fly at all in that year.
Possible therefore calls for the introduction of a frequent flyer charge. They suggest that there should be the lowest or no tax on the first summer of a given year.
They also want family holiday leave, which is usually held once a year, to be exempt from fees. However, frequent holidaymakers should not be affected and should be part of a "paid" group of people.
