German industrial production stagnated for months at the end of the year
The lockdown in force since the beginning of November did not significantly affect industrial activity in Germany.
Industrial production in Germany, Europe's largest economy, stagnated for seven months in a row last December. This is according to official data from the German Ministry of Economy, which they published on Monday.
Production operations in December fell by almost 1.9% compared to the month before, which is almost double the decline expected by economists.
The lockdown in force since the beginning of November did not significantly affect industrial activity in Germany. However, as a result of these figures, expectations have risen that the German economy will contract again in the first quarter of 2021, with only a modest growth of 0.1% during the final quarter of last year.
