Google will pay workers and candidates $ 2.6 million to settle the dispute
Payment of that amount will close the four-year case.
US technology giant Google will pay more than 5,500 workers and job seekers as compensation for $ 2.6 million (approximately 2.15 million euros).
The company faces allegations that it discriminated against female engineers and people of Asian descent.
The payment of this amount will end a 4-year case involving allegations that Google paid engineers less than their male counterparts in similar positions between 2014 and 2017.
These discrepancies were identified during investigations at the
Seattle and Kirkland offices, as well as at
California headquarters.
As part of the settlement, Google will pay more than $ 2,500 million to engineers to compensate them for past losses caused by discrimination. Another $ 1.23 million is for more than 1,700 women and Asians who have unsuccessfully applied for engineering positions at Google.
