Minister of Treasury and Finance Lütfi Elvan what details were discussed about minimum wage expectations.
HAK-İŞ President Arslan, who participated to a program on Bloomberg HT, made statements regarding the minimum wage raise rates for 2021. Arslan expressed his expectations for reform and business life at the meeting he held with the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Lütfi Elvan. Explaining the figure for the 2021 minimum wage increase, Arslan said, “The government and employers should come to the table with an offer of at least 3 thousand TL.”
Arslan, making an assessment on the issue, noted that 40 percent of the working citizens are on minimum wage unline other countries and said that the minimum wage in Turkey is a living wage.
Underlining that the cost of living announced by
TURKSTAT in 2018 was 2,500 TL, Arslan stated that the inflation rate should be added to this number and stated that the incentive for unemployment benefit should also be given for the minimum wage.
