DOLLAR IS STRONG IN GLOBAL MARKETS
In global markets, the dollar's gains since the beginning of the year against almost all world currencies, with one or two exceptions such as the ruble, remain strong.
The dollar index hit 114.58 yesterday, the highest level since May 2002. Sterling hit a historic low of $1.0327, while the euro fell to a 20-year low of 0.96 against the dollar.
While global recession concerns have intensified with interest rate hikes, energy supply problems in countries outside the US, especially in Europe, are increasing concerns. For Turkey, which exports nearly half of its exports to the EU, the demand conditions of the European economy are closely monitored in the market.
Analysts reported that technically, 115 is the resistance for the dollar index and 112.5 is the support position.
