Hyundai has confirmed the shutdown of the Ulsan plant
South Korean carmaker Hyundai will suspend production at one of the plants in Ulsan in April. The company informed about it on Tuesday, which thus confirmed the previous information of the Korean media.
It cited the lack of chips and other components as a reason.
Hyundai has announced that one of the five plants in Ulsan will be shut down from April 7 to 14. It thus postponed the originally stated term, which was published by the
South Korean media. They informed about the shutdown in the period from 5 to 13 April.
The plant affected by the
shutdown produces 311,000 vehicles a year, including Kona Electric and Ionig 5.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Based on the development of supply conditions, we will take measures to optimize production," the company said.
Until now, Hyundai belonged to a small group of cars that did not feel any significant problems due to the lack of chips. Unlike other cars, the company had sufficient stocks. However, problems with the supply of chips continue and stocks are already running low for the South Korean company.
