IBM announced that it has acquired Australian startup Envizi to help measure environmental impact in its
supply chain. The companies did not share the financial terms of the acquisition. Among the business partners and service companies of Envizi are Microsoft, CBRE, Uber, Celestica, Accenture, Alfa Energy, Cushman & Wakefield, Edison Energy, Nube iO, and Verco brands.
Kareem Yusuf, Managing Director of
IBM AI Applications, said that companies need data to drive insights, and that's what his company has achieved with Envizi.
Yusuf said, "Envizi's software provides companies with a single source of truth to analyze and understand emissions data across all business operations and significantly accelerates
IBM's growing arsenal of AI technologies to help businesses build more sustainable operations and
supply chains."
Envizi CEO and Co-Founder David Solsky said they see this as a way to scale the company by leveraging
IBM's global presence. "Today is not the end of an era, but the beginning of a new one. Rather, it is a transition to something that will help us scale at an unprecedented rate and accelerate progress towards sustainability commitments by our customers globally."
IBM sees Envizi as AI-driven software to add to its existing suite of products, which includes the
IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite,
IBM Maximo asset management solutions, and
IBM Sterling
supply chain solutions.
