Thousands of people gathered at the call of left-wing political groups and social organizations in the capital, Buenos Aires, to protest the government of President Alberto Fernandez's agreement with the IMF.
The protestors marched from the city center to May Square, which is located in front of the presidential building, Casa Rosada.
The protestors, demanding that the government break relations with the IMF, carried banners and chanted slogans.
A statement rejecting the government's agreement with the IMF was read at the protest, which was also attended by left-wing deputies.
Maximo Kirchner, who heads the government block in the lower house of Congress, resigned after the government's deal with the IMF.
On January 28, Fernandez announced that his government had signed a debt repayment agreement with the IMF and said that the agreement would also be ratified by Congress.
Argentina, with a population of more than 44 million, signed the $57 billion stand-by agreement in 2018, which includes the highest loan opened in IMF history under the leadership of former President Mauricio Macri, and used $44 billion from the fund in this context.
