IMF Statement by Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati
Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati made important statements about the IMF. Minister Nebati noted that the allegations that Turkey borrowed 6.5 billion dollars from the International Monetary Fund are untrue.
In a statement made on his official Twitter account, Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, in response to the allegations of IYI Party Economic Policy Chairman Prof. Dr. Bilge Yılmaz, said:
"Yesterday, in a broadcast you attended, you claimed that Turkey borrowed $6.5 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Either you don't know the subject or you know and distort it. Both situations are sad for you."
Emphasizing that no agreement has been signed with the IMF on this issue or that there is no program relationship, Minister Nebati said,
"This facility is a resource made available to all member countries. Statements about Turkey borrowing from the IMF are untrue. I am leaving the link to the press release of our Ministry, which was made on August 26, 2021, regarding these issues in the past, for you again."
