In addition, the number of local investors in Borsa Istanbul increased to 555,692 since the beginning of the year. This number corresponds to an increase of about 47 percent. With the increase in September, the number of domestic investors in Borsa Istanbul increased for 14 consecutive months and broke the record of July 2017-August 2018. During the period in question, an average of 42,400 investors on a monthly basis entered Borsa Istanbul. In the previous record, the average increase in the number of domestic investors was at the level of 10,600. The 20.4 billion lira increase in the portfolio value of domestic investors in September showed the second highest monthly change in Borsa Istanbul history. The domestic investor portfolio value of 167.8 billion lira broke the record for the last 6 months. On the other hand, the number of foreign institutional investors investing in Borsa Istanbul has decreased recently. The number of foreign institutional investors decreased by 5 percent in September and fell to 1,272. Portfolio value of foreign institutional investors increased by approximately 2.5 billion lira and reached 188.6 billion lira. In addition to these, the number of real foreign investors seems to be in an increasing trend for the last 10 months. During the mentioned period, an average of 205 people on a monthly basis chose Borsa Istanbul for their investments.
