India Banned 43 Mobile Apps Based in China
India has banned 43 mobile apps based in China. The country had previously banned more than 170 applications.
According to the news in Bloomberg HT, India has banned 43 mobile applications on the grounds that it is inconvenient for the security of the country. In the statement made by the Ministry of Technology of the country, it was stated that the banned apps threaten "the sovereignty and integrity of India".
Previously, India banned over 170 mobile apps on the grounds that tech companies shared users data.
The Chinese Embassy in India said in a statement on Wednesday that it "resolutely" opposes the ban. Alibaba Group Holding left the request for comment unanswered.
Making a statement regarding the decision,
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian called on India to lift the ban on mobile applications of Chinese origin. Zhao accused India of violating global free trade rules and stated that there is discrimination against Chinese companies.
Zhao called on India to "protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies" and used the following statements:
“The Indian side should immediately correct this discriminatory practice to avoid further damage to cooperation between the two parties.”
