India's digital revolution offers US investment opportunities
India's digital revolution offers investment opportunities for US companies and investors, the South Asian country's finance minister said on Wednesday.
"India's Open Network for Digital Commerce has revolutionized the retail and manufacturing sector," Nirmala Sitharaman told a business conference in the Indian capital on Wednesday, adding that it offers business opportunities to foreign companies.
Sitharaman said she foresees many areas for cooperation between India and the United States in the digital sector.
She said the federal government was in touch with foreign investors to ease rules for further investment. She did not give details about the consultations.
Sitharaman also said the country is confident of tackling the problem of high inflation and that the economic revival is happening thanks to government reforms.
Inflation in India has been hovering above the central bank's 2% to 6% tolerance band for several months, with consumer inflation coming in at 6.71% in July.
