Indices in the USA Started the Day with a Rise

Indices in the US started trading on Thursday with an increase in expectations for the support package.

Indices in the USA started the day with a rise. Indices in the country have gained with the expectations for the support package planned for the coronavirus outbreak. At its opening Thursday, the Dow Jones index gained 0.12 percent, finding buyers at 31,476.56 points. The S&P 500 index increased 0.31 percent to 3,921.90 points, and the Nasdaq index rose 0.56 percent to 14,050.82 points. Indices, which closed the day with a fluctuating motion yesterday, gained an upward momentum in the opening transactions today. The upward trend in the indices supported the economic support package expectations and the macroeconomic data announced to eliminate the negative effects of the coronavirus epidemic. According to the data released today in the United States, the number of citizens applying for unemployment benefits in the country has pulled up to 793 thousand for the first time in the week ending February 6. Commenting on the workday market yesterday, US Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell said, "Despite the surprising early recovery pace, we are still far from a strong labor market." Powell, who gave a message that the supportive monetary policy will continue, pointed out that the withdrawal of policy support should not be considered until the coronavirus epidemic is completely over. While the $ 1.9 trillion support package negotiations, which Joe Biden insisted, continued in the capital Washington, the latest data and official statements caused an increase in expectations that it would provide more support against the effects of the epidemic.
