Indices in the USA Started the Day With an Increase
Indices in the USA started the day with an increase. The announced company balance sheets were reflected in the indices as an increase.
At the opening of the day, the Dow Jones index increased 0.27 percent and was traded at 31,044.31 points. The S&P 500 index increased by 0.28 percent to 3,866.30 points, while the Nasdaq index increased by 0.33 percent to 13,681.18 points.
The fourth quarter balance sheets of some companies played a role in the opening of the indices in the USA. Shares of General Electric, one of the companies whose fourth quarter balance sheet was announced today, gained more than 6 percent with cash flow data that exceeded expectations. The industrial cash flow of the company in the last quarter of last year increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and was recorded as $4.4 billion.
On the other hand, the shares of the US pharmaceutical company Johnson&Johnson increased more than 3 percent after the company announced that its revenue in the last quarter of 2020 increased by 8.3 percent to $ 22.5 billion.
In addition, the financial stimulus package, which is expected to be given as part of the fight against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, did not fall from the focus of the markets. When the US Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Chuck Schumer, stated that it is not possible to launch a new economic support package before March, the risk appetite in the markets was partially suppressed.
