Industrial production in Britain fell in November
Industrial production in Britain fell in November, the first in seven months. At the same time, the markets expected only a moderation of previous growth. This was pointed out by data released by the British Statistical Office on Friday.
Industrial production fell 0.1 percent month-on-month in November after a 1.1 percent increase in the previous month. This is the first decline since a record decline in April, when industrial production in Britain fell by 19.6 percent.
Analysts expected it to continue growing at 0.5 percent. However, the development was affected by another
lockdown.
The November decline in industrial production was mainly due to the mining sector, where production fell by 3.4 percent. The production of electricity also decreased. On the contrary, production in the manufacturing sector increased by 0.7 percent, which was mainly due to the production of transport equipment.
Compared to February, when the economy was still functioning "normally", industrial production in
Britain fell by 4.7 percent. The same decrease was recorded in production in industry compared to November 2019.
