Inflation in Istanbul is at its peak after a long period. According to the data announced by the
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, retail prices in Istanbul increased by 14.4 percent in December compared to the same period of the previous year. Thus, the fastest increase in retail prices has been recorded since August 2019.

According to the data announced by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, retail prices in Istanbul increased by 14.4 percent on an annual basis in December. Thus, the highest increase since August 2019 was experienced. The increase in retail prices in November 2020 was recorded as 14.07 percent.
When analyzed monthly, retail prices increased by 1.36 percent in December. Monthly inflation in retail prices was recorded as 1.94 percent in November.
On the basis of groups, the highest increase occurred in household goods and related expenditures with 3.02 percent on an annual basis. Food prices increased by 2.2 percent in December on an annual basis.
According to the announced data, there was a 2.05 percent monthly increase in wholesale prices and an 18.18 percent annual increase in December.
