Inflation in Turkey Continued to Increase in April
Inflation in Turkey continued to increase in April. The inflation rate in April was calculated as 17.14 percent.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced the
inflation data for April. According to the data announced by TURKSTAT, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April is 1.68 percent compared to the previous month, 5.45 percent compared to December of the previous year, 17.14 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 13 percent according to 12-month averages. Increased by 70.
The other main groups where the increase was low compared to the same month of the previous year were communications with 9.05 percent, education with 10.21 percent and clothing and shoes with 11.03 percent, respectively. In addition, the main groups with higher increases compared to the same month of the previous year were recorded as transportation with 29.31 percent, household goods with 22.27 percent and health with 19.20 percent.
As of the main expenditure groups, the other main group, which decreased in April 2021, was recorded as household goods with 0.03 percent. The other main groups that showed the least increase were health with 0.56 percent and alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 0.73 percent. The groups with high increase in April were recorded as clothing and footwear with 7.57 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 2.13 percent and education with 2.09 percent.
D-PPI Increased 35.17 Percent Annually
The Domestic Producer Price Index increased 4.34 percent in April compared to the previous month, 12.91 percent compared to December of the previous year, 35.17 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 19.44 percent on the 12-month averages.
