Iran and Russia Plan to Eliminate the Dollar from Trade Transactions
Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi said that Tehran and Moscow have reached some important agreements in the banking, financial and economic fields under the sanctions, adding that the two countries plan to use their national currencies instead of the US dollar in mutual trade transactions.
Speaking to the press in the capital Tehran on his return from Russia, Central Bank Governor Ali Salehabadi said that the two countries have taken important steps to develop their relations in the fields of finance and banking in their meetings with Russia, Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported.
"The use of national currencies was one of the important axes of consultation in the meetings with Russian officials and we will soon see the implementation of the agreements," Salehabadi said, adding that the steps to be taken regarding the transition from dollars and euros to national currencies in mutual trade were also discussed during the talks.
Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi added that the agreements reached during his visit to Moscow to facilitate trade relations with Russia will be implemented in the near future and their positive results will be felt in both countries.
