ECB Governing Council Member Klaas Knot made important remarks in an interview with a television channel in his native Netherlands on Sunday. Knot underlined that the ECB's next move could be an increase between 50 and 75 basis points.
While Knot stated that they will take a significant step at the next meeting, he said,
"We have not even reached the halftime yet" regarding the ECB's fight against inflation.
At their last meeting, the European Central Bank raised interest rates by 75 basis points, the highest level since 2009. While the ECB's decision text stated that interest rate hikes would continue in the upcoming meetings, no signal was given on the size of the increases.
