Italy Requested the Deletion of Debts from ECB
Italy requested the deletion of debts from the
ECB. Prime Minister Conte's closest adviser asked the European Central Bank to cancel the debt or postpone it indefinitely.
Riccardo Fraccaro, one of the closest advisers to Prime Minister,
Giuseppe Conte, stated that debts given to different governments by the European Central Bank during the coronavirus outbreak should be deleted or postponed indefinitely in order to support the recovery and reconstruction of nations.
Fraccaro said in an interview in Rome, "Monetary policy should be in a way that supports the expansionary fiscal policies of the member countries.” Fraccaro stated that this could include the cancellation of government bonds received during the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic or the permanent delay of maturities.
