JP Morgan Revised Its Growth Forecast for Turkey
JP Morgan revised its growth forecast for Turkey. The institution updated its growth forecast upwards.
JP Morgan has updated its 2021 forecasts upwards after the first quarter
growth data has been released yesterday in Turkey, which exceeded expectations. Economist Yarkın Cebeci said, "High-frequency data show that the slowdown in economic activity is quite moderate." Cebeci also stated that high interest rates, slowdown in loan growth and quarantines are pressure factors in growth.
Accordingly, the 2021 growth forecast was increased from 4.8 percent to 6.1 percent, while the 2022 forecast was reduced from 4.1 percent to 3.4 percent.
The Turkish economy grew by 7 percent in the first quarter of the year.
