Kazakhstan May Build A Nuclear Power Plant for Crypto Mining
Kazakhstan may build a nuclear power plant for crypto mining. The country is the second most crypto mining country.
As it is known, after the bans of China, Kazakhstan became one of the centers of cryptocurrency
mining due to low energy prices. In fact, in the data released in the past months, it was revealed that the mining in the country showed a great increase, therefore, Kazakhstan became the highest mining place after the USA.
According to the new statements made by the government, new moves may come to improve the mining in the country.
According to statements made by the country's President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a nuclear power plant could be built in the country to accelerate the growth of the cryptocurrency mining industry. According to Tokayev, thanks to this power plant, the energy load in the country can be reduced, an economic development can be experienced and the quality of life of the citizens can increase.
Kazakhstan currently hosts 50 registered and an unknown number of unregistered cryptocurrency mining companies. The government also thinks that the energy load caused by this high amount of mining activities can be reduced by nuclear power plant.
However, experts argue that this proposal will not be welcomed by the public. The fact that there has not been a nuclear power plant in the country for more than 20 years and that nuclear weapons tests were carried out in Kazakhstan during the Soviet Union cause the public to behave distantly and reluctantly towards nuclear power plants.
