Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Rahmi Koç: “We Trust Our Country's Future”

Koç Holding held its 52nd Ordinary General Assembly and discussed the 2021 annual report at the meetings attended by senior management and shareholders. Rahmi Koç, Honorary Chairman of Koç Holding, said, "We trust the future of our country and we will continue our investments with determination."

Koç Holding's 58th Ordinary General Assembly was held at the Holding in Nakkaştepe on Friday, April 1 with the participation of Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Rahmi Koç, Deputy Chairman of the Board Ali Koç, Board Member İpek Kıraç, Koç Holding senior management and shareholders. Koç Holding Chairman of the Board Ömer M. Koç said the following; “Koç Group left behind another year filled with such uncertainties with satisfactory financial results. All of our groups performed above the budget projections. We have maintained our long-term strategic focus, while managing risks and taking advantage of opportunities, by making decisions appropriate to constantly changing conditions. The purchase of our partner's shares in Yapı Kredi and the repurchase programs of Koç Holding and Arçelik shares were positively received by the market. We are leaving behind a year when the Arçelik-Hitachi partnership that we announced in 2020 was completed and Ford Otosan actually started the largest electrification-focused automotive investment in our country. It is clear that this issue, which has become one of the most important agenda items of the global economy and politics, will shape our competitiveness in the near future. Our Carbon Transformation Program will offer an ambitious and realistic perspective that will prepare us for this future. As I always emphasize, the most important element of our reputation is our perception of young people. Koç Group will continue to do its best to be a 'reliable stakeholder' that feeds their hopes and enables them to realize their ideals. Whatever the circumstances, we will try to do the best for our country and humanity by holding on to the centuries-old corporate values we inherited.” In his statemen, CEO Levent Çakıroğlu said; “Behind the performance of Koç Group, which has been successfully tested under great challenges, especially in the last two years, there is a great role played by both the strength we derive from our centuries-old corporate values and the modern competencies we have developed thanks to the transformation programs we embrace with faith. In the annual report they presented at the meeting, the combined revenues of Koç Holding in 2021 were recorded as TL 544.3 billion. With a combined investment of 17.3 billion TL in 2021, the total amount of the last 5 years reached 53 billion TL. The most investments were made in the automotive sector, followed by the energy and durable consumption sectors. As of December 31, 2021, the share of publicly traded companies in the Borsa Istanbul 100 index (BIST 100) and Koç Holding's total value in the market value of companies in BIST 100 stood at 21 percent. The ratio of Koç Group's combined revenues to Turkey's GDP is around 8 percent; exports constituted approximately 7 percent of Turkey's total exports.”
