LATAM, the largest airline company in South America, filed for the postponement of bankruptcy in the USA in May.According to the report in Reuters, LATAM has decided to fire at least 2700 employees, including pilots in Brazil.LATAM Brazil said in a statement that the voluntary layoff process will be operated until August 4, after which the company will take the necessary steps.The dismissal decision came after the negotiations on lowering salaries between SNA, the union of airline workers, and LATAM, ended in disagreement.LATAM thinks that it offers its employees much better salaries than its competitors in Brazil.The company made an attempt to bring the staff salary to the average of its competitors after the contraction in the airline industry due to the corona virus outbreak.However, no agreement was reached with the union.Before the outbreak began, LATAM had 43,000 employees worldwide.Most of them were in Brazil and Chile.LATAM, which has a debt of 18 billion dollars, became the biggest airline company that applied for postponement in the epidemic process.
