Malta and Cyprus Have The Lowest Covid Mortality Rate in Europe
According to research from Seattle, Malta and Cyprus had the lowest mortality rate among European countries and 19 and 54 deaths during the first wave of the Covid-19 outbreak (assuming full social distance by May 2020). We can say that Cyprus is good in this process where social distance is important.
The Republic of Cyprus has counted nine deaths since Covid-19, and on Wednesday the government announced that extended measures to cover the virus have been extended until April 30.
The IHME study also contains information on government-implemented measures, such as when lockout was implemented and schools were closed.
The survey estimates that Britain is the UK's biggest death in Europe, although the Guardian reported that Imperial College scientists who advised the UK government warned that the modeling of IHME UK data was problematic.
Imperial College estimates that total deaths in the UK will be between 7,000 and 20,000. Currently, the UK counts more than 7000 dead from the virus.
IHME estimates that by August 4, more than 60,000 people in the UK will die from Covid-19. Italy is second with 20,300, followed by Spain with 19,209.
