Mandatory update to WhatsApp in Turkey. Those who want to continue using the application will have to accept the new terms. Messaging and call application WhatsApp, announced that users in Turkey must accept the conditions of the application until 8 February in order to use the app. Stating that users who do not accept the updated terms and privacy policy of the application until February 8 will not be able to use the application, WhatsApp reported that this does not apply to users in the European Union (EU) countries. WhatsApp, owned by the US Facebook, sent a text to its users containing the new terms and privacy policy.   Does WhatsApp Use Our Data? WhatsApp spokesperson said that citizens of EU countries will not be affected by this situation; It was stated that the data of users in the specified countries will not be shared with Facebook's companies for advertising and similar purposes. However, it drew attention that the mentioned countries are European Union (EU) members. In the updates in the notification sent by the application, information on these subjects were given; “The WhatsApp service and how we process your data. How businesses use Facebook-hosted services to store and manage WhatsApp chats. How we work with Facebook to deliver integrations in Facebook company products.” The statement emphasized that users will have accepted the new terms and privacy policy by clicking the “accept” tab, which will take effect on February 8, after clicking the "Accept" tab, and stated the following: “After this date, you will need to accept these updates to continue using WhatsApp. If you prefer to delete your account and want to learn more, you can also visit the Help Center.”   "WhatsApp Must Get Some Information ..." WhatsApp's "Privacy Policy" text, updated on January 4, took place on the application's official website. In the text in question, pointing out that WhatsApp is a part of Facebook companies, the following statements were used: “In order to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support and market our services, WhatsApp must receive or collect certain information, including when you download, use or access our services. The types of data we receive and collect depend on how you use our services. We need certain information to provide our services and without it we cannot provide our services to you. WhatsApp, which is part of Facebook companies, receives information from and shares information with other Facebook companies. We may use the information we receive from these companies to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support and market our services and the possibilities offered by these companies, including Facebook company products, and these companies may also use the information we share with them.”   What Information Does WhatsApp Collect? According to the information text on WhatsApp's site, the information collected from users of the application includes account information, messages, links, status information, transaction and payment data, customer support and other communications, usage and registration information, device and connection information, location information, cookies and information provided by the third parties. The application uses the information obtained from users for services, safety, security and integrity, communications about Facebook companies and corporate communications. Facebook, which bought the WhatsApp application in 2014, also owns Messenger and Instagram. Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg came up with scandals such as using data without permission and gave testimony in US courts.
