Mattel is launching a new line of Barbie dolls from recycled plastic
American toy manufacturer Mattel is launching a new line of Barbie dolls. Toys are made from recycled plastic, which would otherwise end up as waste in the ocean. In addition, in his new educational video, he teaches children how to protect our planet.
The Barbie Loves the Ocean collection is focused on summer, and includes three dolls and accessories made from 90 percent recycled plastic. The toy manufacturer cooperates with Envision Plastics, a major recycler of thermoplastics. The source of material for the production of new toys is to be the areas near the Mexican Baja Peninsula.
"The launch of this Barbie doll is another addition to Mattel's growing portfolio of purpose-built brands that raise environmental awareness among our customers," said Richard Dickson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mattel.
Along with the new dolls and accessories, the toy company has released an animated educational video on its YouTube channel, intended primarily for the younger generation. Barbie dolls share tips on how to protect our planet.
The toy manufacturer has previously committed to using 100% recycled, recyclable or organic materials in all its products and packaging by 2030. In May of this year, the company came up with the Mattel PlayBack program. He encourages consumers to send their old toys to Mattel. The company can thus reuse the materials.
