Microsoft Earnings Reports Above Expectations
Microsoft's positive earnings reports were way above expectations and ended Tuesday with a record close.
Microsoft closed at a record level on Tuesday, with sales of $ 40 billion for the first time in the last quarter and a profit of $ 15 billion.
All expectations were exceeded
Sales in the cloud and personal computer segments were the carriers in the positive earnings reports released on Tuesday. Until the end of 2020, we can say that expectations are easily exceeded as conditions continue in demand for pc and remote computing power.
In the last quarter of 2020, Microsoft reported earnings of $ 15.46 billion on sales of $ 43.1 billion, or $ 2.03 per share. The company, which showed strong growth compared to the same period of the previous year, reported earnings of $ 1.51 per share from sales of $ 36.9 billion in this period last year.
Analysts had expected Microsoft's earnings report to be an average of $ 40.23 billion in sales, or an increase of $ 1.64 per share.
The stocks jumped 4 percent in post-session trading following the release of the report, tying the record set on September 2, 2020, after establishing the all-time closing peak of $ 232.33 in the regular session.
Microsoft stock has increased 40.8 percent in the last 12 months. Dow Jones, who counts Microsoft as a component, also gained 6.8 percent in this period.
The most exciting product for investors and analysts in recent years has been Amazon Web Services or Microsoft's cloud computing product Azure versus AWS. In the report released on Tuesday, the company announced that Azure grew by 50 in the last quarter of 2020. They believe that even if Microsoft's Azure breaks the sales performance of Amazon Web and Alphabet Inc., this is not the benchmark of Azure's true financial performance.
Cloud software assets such as Microsoft's "productivity and business services" division, which includes the Office suite, LinkedIn, and other features, earned $ 11.83 billion in the same period a year ago, and reported $ 13.35 billion in revenue in the last quarter of 2020.
