Microsoft (MSFT) Launches Next Generation Xbox Game Consoles!
Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) now launches the highly anticipated next-generation game console Xbox in retail stores worldwide.
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are priced at $ 499 and $ 299, respectively.
Microsoft wants to increase its market share against Sony Corporation (SNE) in the game console market worldwide with the launch of its next-generation Xbox game consoles. Interestingly, Microsoft coincided with the release of the new console Xbox before Sony's PlayStation 5. It will likely help it gain market share.
Sony's PlayStation 5 console will be released in North America and Mexico on November 12th. It will be available in Europe and the UK from November 19th.
In terms of price point, both consoles compete with each other. Sony's PlayStation 5 has a price tag of $ 499.99 in the United States. The situation of being unable to leave the house and the increase in gaming activities triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide is expected to provide extra power to new consoles' sales.
Impressive Features That Increase Xbox Sales
Microsoft has made significant upgrades to its next-generation consoles to improve the gaming experience. Both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles have been augmented with the latest Enhancements to provide next-generation gamers with high-value audio and visual experience, adding DirectX Raytracing (DXR). The Xbox Series X uses AMD 7 nanometer (nm) technology based on the 8-core Zen 2 architecture CPU. It has 12 teraflops of processing power and has an RDNA 2 class GPU. The Xbox Series X also has a high storage space such as NVME SSD (hard disk drive) that offers 16GB GDD R6 memory and 1TB internal storage capacity. It also has expansion support for an additional 1 TB of storage.
On the other hand, Xbox Series S supports 1440p resolution of up to 120 FPS (number of images per second) and supports 4K for games. It will also have 512 MB of NVME SSD storage.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, Cuisine Royale, Fortnite, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Forza Horizon 4, Watch Dogs: Legion, Gears Tactics, and Tetris Effect: Connected
The Xbox Series S specs look slightly more unpleasant than the flagship model, the Xbox X series. However, with the release of a cheaper console, Microsoft seems to attract casual and non-gamers who avoid spending money on high-end consoles.
The new consoles are impressive at launch with 40 optimized games (Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, Cuisine Royale, Fortnite, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Forza Horizon 4, Watch Dogs: Legion, Gears Tactics, and Tetris Effect: Connected) has a content.
It will add many new games to Xbox S and Xbox X, such as Destiny 2: Beyond Light and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Xbox Game Pass Service by Microsoft to Drive Console Sales
Microsoft is expanding its Game Pass subscription service and game library to attract more buyers to its consoles and reinforce its competitive stance against Sony and Nintendo. The company recently collaborated with "Electronic Arts" to bring together the EA Play service with the Xbox Game Pass subscription at no additional cost. With EA Play, Ultimate Pass subscribers can access more than 60 popular EA games (FIFA 20, Battlefield, Titanfall, and Need For Speed) on Xbox One and Xbox Series S and X consoles. The company also integrated its cloud gaming service with a Game Pass subscription. The XCloud integration allows Ultimate Pass subscribers to access over 100 game titles (Minecraft Dungeons, Destiny 2, and Tell Me Why) from any device at any time (PC, mobile, or console). With the acquisition of Bethesda Softworks, Microsoft will add Bethesda games to the Game Pass library.
To put it briefly;
The delay in the launch of Microsoft's Halo Infinite game is a situation that breaks the symmetry. The product was supposed to be released around the holiday season this year, but its release was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, if we consider the sales of the latest generation consoles, Sony PlayStation has a sales superiority over Xbox consoles. To VGChartz data, the total sales of PlayStation 4 by October 2020 are 113.8 million units, more than 48.5 million units of Xbox One.
According to the
VGChartz report, PlayStation 4 dominates the console market with a market share of 49.5% in total sales until October 2020, while Nintendo Switch has a market share of 29.4% and Xbox One 21.1%.
For the Statista company report, it is estimated that the Xbox Series X sales will be approximately 3.3 million in 2020. PlayStation 5 will be sold 50 million units, and the Xbox Series X will be 30 million by 2023.
