Minimum Wage and EYT Statement by Minister Vedat Bilgin
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin stated that a regulation will be made in December that will eliminate the damage of inflation to the minimum wage.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin made evaluations about the minimum wage that everyone is curious about. Regarding the minimum wage, Bilgin said,
"This is the essence of the social policies we implement. This is our perspective on collective bargaining processes in both the private and public sectors, and we are trying to transfer income through the minimum wage. With the historic minimum wage increase we made at the end of December last year, a 50 percent increase was made. What is more important is the elimination of tax on all wages up to the minimum wage. We also raised it in July. Is this enough, it is insufficient in the face of inflation. Therefore, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will reconvene in December and we will make an arrangement that will eliminate the damage of inflation on laborers."
There is an arrangement for EYT
Noting that EYT will also be regulated, Minister Bilgin used the following statements:
"Let me say in advance that there is a comprehensive arrangement to overcome all problems. This is a very detailed study. There are many people here, each of them has a special situation. We will solve individual problems as if we were solving a collective problem. In this respect, a transparent arrangement will come to the agenda that will relieve people's concerns about their future in working life.
In today's post-industrial era, our perception of time and our working relations need to change. We are in a time when the working order according to the 8-hour shift will change. We are in a technological transformation environment where labor will be more productive. All of these relationships will change according to this environment. Remote working, working from home. What is important here is to provide social security for the employee, no matter which labor relationship he/she works in, and to provide him/her with the rights to have new union models."
